Spitting Image

My dad emailed this picture to us yesterday and the subject of the e-mail was "Auburn or Lily?" . . .

Dave and I showed it to Lily yesterday morning and asked her who it was, she thought it was her.

So curious who this little boy will look like!!

Pampered

I was so fun being pampered earlier this week!

I've got a fab new haircut/color by Hilary and tons of great make-up tips from Courtney.

These ladies were seriously HILARIOUS, FUN and so stinkin', STYLISH!

10 x 3 = OLD

We're old.

It's true.

We're both in our thirties now.

Really, Dave's closer to 40 than 30.

At least he can finally pass for 30.

(if we're talking looks . . . maturity-wise . . . that's another issue)

Pumpkin Patch

Posting like crazy this week, but there are so many fun, fall activities that I want to document!

We went to Mother Nature's Farm with Lily's preschool class and we had a blast!

Here are some pictures from our visit . . .

Cannon driving the tractor. This kid can pretend drive for hours! I just put him in the car, roll the window down, and prop the garage door open when I'm making dinner and he has a blast out there. I'll be sad when the phase is over, I'll have to think of something else to entertain him! He sure wasn't happy when we had to get off the tractor so we could share it with the rest of the kiddos!

We invited Spencer and Kristi's family, and Mimi to come along to the farm too! Here is the best picture we could get of Claire and Lily. Not the greatest, but still cute!

Cannon was attached to Mimi's hip the whole morning. He was so excited that she was there. As I was working on this post he saw her picture and wanted to give her a kiss, so he got up on my lap and kissed the computer screen. Cuteness.

The kids had fun picking out their pumpkins and decorating them with stickers. Here are a couple pics of Lily's final choice . . .

And Cannon's . . . he's such a BOY. Every little thing that he does is so . . . well . . . boyish. It's hilarious. He has a deep little voice and always says "whoa!" That's what he's doing in this picture.

They had a little wooden house that the kids could play in and I couldn't resist taking pictures (as if I'm ever shy with my camera . . .) They just kept sticking their heads out the window and it was the perfect little picture frame!

Finally, here is a shot of the kiddos and I. I made Aunt Kristi take one to compare it to last year's picture and . . . oh my heck how they've grown! As you can see Cannon no longer sits calmly on my hip, and little miss is losing that toddler look, and turning into a little girl! It's still a bit weird for this Missouri girl to be wearing flip flops to a pumpkin patch in late, October, but I gotta admit, I love it! The fall/winter/spring weather in Arizona is the best!

Well, we left happy, hungry, tired, and dirty. . . like, really dirty.

I think we are gonna make Dave take the morning off next year and go with us so he can enjoy it too!

color change

I went dark.
I kind of went dark in January, but it faded a lot.
So I went darker yesterday and I'm liking it.
I'm sure this will fade a lot too.
Every time I've ever gone dark in the past I've done it in the winter, but I think summer is a much better time for dark . . . don't you?

Move over

MaRthA SteWArT. . .

There's a new domestic diva in town.

Yes. I made these. Alone, you ask? Nope. Heavily coached by Court and Brooke. I made Court take a picture of me in the making, just to prove to all of you shocked souls (you know who you are), that I actually created these with my own two hands. Best part? The backs of them say "GIVE THANKS" . . . a dual purpose, does it get any better?



I volunteered to make cupcakes for a girlfriend for her daughter's first birthday party. Alone, you ask? Nope. Heavily, coached by Annie, the cooking queen, who by the way has a popular cooking blog you can check out by clicking HERE.

Could the up and coming domestic Diva stop with just a simple cupcake? Heaven's no! What birthday party would be complete without some Barefoot Contessa cupcake pops? Did I make these alone, you ask? Nope. Heavily coached once again, by Anne Strawberry. Actually, I would say I more just watched Anne make these, but I did put the fabulous decor on top.

I'm starting the process of decorating a kids room for our house and want to make it a room that both Cannon and Lily can sleep in, down the road. I fell in love with this tree and cuckoo clock and so I decided to make them for the room! Just kidding, I bought them from PB Kids, mostly because I just didn't have time to make them . . .

I found this gorgeous fabric Alexander Henry fabric and ordered it on EBAY that I'm going to use for their bedding. I would totally whip out my Singer and sew up the duvet and shams myself, but my time is really too precious for that. So, I am going to have their bedding made by another domestic diva that my interior designer (aka my friend Courtney) has connections with.

*for those of you who might be reading this blog, and don't know me well . . . please don't judge me by this post. i'm mostly joking . . .

**to my mother, you really did try and help me to be a "real" domestic diva, so don't feel bad that I'm not.

I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee . . .

I got a new calling at church on Sunday - I'm going to be a Beehive advisor. Beehives are 12 & 13 year old girls - a fun age to work with! My mother-in-law is just as excited for me, she said that was one of her favorite callings she's ever had. I went to class with them for the first time today - there are 13 of them, and they are going to be fun!

For those of you who aren't familiar - there are no paid clergy in our church, everything is done by the members and you don't pick your job - you get assigned to it!! I'm excited to fulfill this assignment.
