citrus

We have thoroughly enjoyed our citrus trees this year!
Even though we didn't have much fruit, the fruit that we had was
DE-LISH!

Here are the rascals getting ready to enjoy one of the giant grapefruits.

working hard

It's Saturday and we don't have a thing on the agenda until tonight at 5:30!

That hasn't happened in over a month. We're excited to hang out at home and get lots of things done today. Including updating the neglected blog!

We started trimming and yard work bright and early. By "we" I mean "Dave", I just supervise, you know? He does get some help from Cannon . . . love it that they can work together. So stinkin' cute.

Photobucket

Lily mostly just supervises with me. Do you love her hair? I did it myself. Gorgeous, I know. She's all about the "big" ponytail right now, and her hair is always falling out of it.

Photobucket

I have to bring cupcakes to our 5:30 shindig, so I must to give a little shout out to my new kitchen aid for helping me out. I'm in LOVE with her. My parents got it for me for Christmas, and said I could start using it now - and I couldn't resist! Thanks Mom & Dad, I'll make you some yummy treats when you are here for the holidays? How about the ice blue color? I LOVE it. It goes perfectly in my kitchen.

Photobucket

Well, off for more fun. We've already had Lily throw up on the pool deck (thank goodness she was outside), found a scorpion (stop it, I'm secretly freaking out, they usually travel in pairs), and put the swings up for our winter fun! Yay for cool weather!

What else will the day bring?

Little Squirt

I thought I'd give you a taste of our morning.
We swam for a while, and then sat on the back porch playing with squirt bottles.
Oh the joy squirting yourself in the face with a squirt bottle can bring.

If you have thirty-four seconds, watch the video.

If not, just look at the picture . . .
look at the pure "post-squirt" pleasure on that face . . .
dream of being young again . . .
and SMILE.

Photobucket

Seriously. I dare you not to smile.

Oh Lily, how I wish squirting water in my hair would make it GROW.

Water Babies

We've been swimming like crazy.
It's HOT, HOT, HOT these days.

Lily took four weeks of swim lessons and has turned into a little fish.
She's doing pretty good!
Check her out in the short clips below if you have a minute, the first is just a little interview. . .

Cannon loves the water too. He loves to walk around our shallow area and splash. I'll have to get some video of him playing in the water too! He's really quite entertaining!

By the way, how is it that kids have no temperature gauge? Cannon was outside playing Monday night while Dave was working on the yard and his cheeks were red as can be, and I know he had to have been burning up, but he could have cared less! Don't worry - I took his shirt off so as to help keep him cool :o)

First Fruits

Here is a picture of the grapefruit that we let our tree grow this year. According to our resident "arborist" we need to pick the fruit off of the fruit trees these first few years so they can spend time/energy growing bigger instead of producing fruit. So we only let ONE grapefruit grow on the tree and we finally picked it tonight. It was DELISH. I think Lily ate about 90% of it, so hopefully next year we can grow FOUR grapefruit, one for each of us! We did get lots of lemons on our lemon tree, but that's because lemon trees grow fast, fast, fast - so no need to pick those off. I had some great water with a "twist" of lemon this winter. I'm so glad my handsome hubby planted so many fruit trees in the back yard and glad he spends time fertilizing and trimming them. They'll be a delight in years to come. Can't wait to taste more of fruit of our tree!

Photobucket

All of it's juicy goodness . . .

Photobucket

And, one picture of Cannon I took tonight . . . just for good measure. He's a hunk. It's true. He's pretty much transitioned himself to one nap already. Crazy. That switch was such a pain with Lily and easy as pie with this one. Now if I could only get Lily to sleep past 5:45 am . . .

Photobucket

It'a funny how different each child is - but you love them just the same. I took dinner to a friend tonight who just had a baby and I was holding her little guy and getting a smidge baby hungry, if you can believe that. No announcements any time soon though. I have two marathons to get through first!

Cheap Entertainment.

Daddy went mountain biking this evening with a couple of his friends so Lily, Cannon and I had our own little date in the backyard.
It was HOT, HOT, HOT today.
I'm still not ready to hop in the pool with both kiddos, so I filled up some buckets in the backyard after dinner and the kids were in heaven!
(I was in heaven too, just snapping away . . . see evidence below.)

Photobucket

Splish Splash.

Photobucket

What??

Photobucket

Lovin' my sister.

Photobucket

A truly "all purpose" bucket. If you don't have one, get one.

Photobucket

Broken bucket.

Photobucket

Happy day.

Oh, and while Daddy was gone Lily asked, "is Daddy milking biking?"
Too funny.
